Mishkat al-Masabih 2495
عَن عثمانَ بنِ حُنَيفٍ قَالَ: إِنَّ رَجُلًا ضَرِيرَ الْبَصَرِ أَتَى النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَقَالَ: ادْعُ اللَّهَ أَنْ يُعَافِيَنِي فَقَالَ: «إِنْ شِئْتَ دَعَوْتُ وَإِنْ شِئْتَ صَبَرْتَ فَهُوَ خَيْرٌ لَكَ» . قَالَ: فَادْعُهُ قَالَ: فَأَمَرَهُ أَنْ يَتَوَضَّأَ فَيُحْسِنَ الْوُضُوءَ وَيَدْعُو بِهَذَا الدُّعَاءِ: «اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَسْأَلُكَ وَأَتَوَجَّهُ إِلَيْكَ بِنَبِيِّكَ مُحَمَّدٍ نَبِيِّ الرَّحْمَةِ إِنِّي تَوَجَّهْتُ بِكَ إِلَى رَبِّي لِيَقْضِيَ لِي فِي حَاجَتِي هَذِهِ اللهُمَّ فشفّعْه فيَّ» . رَوَاهُ التِّرْمِذِيُّ وَقَالَ: هَذَا حَدِيثٌ حَسَنٌ صَحِيحٌ غَرِيب
‘Uthman ibn Hunayf reported: A man who was blind came to the Prophet ﷺ and said, “Supplicate to Allah to restore my well-being.” He said, “If you wish, I will supplicate; but if you are patient, that is better for you.” The man said, “Then supplicate for me.” The Prophet ﷺ instructed him to perform ablution and do it well, then to supplicate with these words: “O Allah, I ask You and turn to You through Your Prophet Muhammad, the Prophet of mercy. I have turned through you to my Lord, so that He may fulfill this need of mine. O Allah, accept his intercession for me.” Al-Tirmidhi reported it and said, “This is a hasan sahih gharīb hadith.” Graded Sahih by al-Albani.
