Mishkat al-Masabih 2503

Hudhayfah reported that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: “A believer should not humiliate himself.” They asked, “How would he humiliate himself?” He said, “By exposing himself to an affliction he cannot bear.” Reported by al-Tirmidhi, Ibn Majah, and al-Bayhaqi in Shu‘ab al-Iman. Al-Tirmidhi said, “This is a hasan gharīb hadith.” The hadith was not studied by al-Albani.
