Ibn Abbas said to me: Do you know-and in the words of Harun (another narrator): Are you aware of-the last Sura which was revealed in the Qur'an as a whole? I said: Yes," When came the help from Allah and the victory" (cx.). Thereupon, he said: You have told the truth. And in the narration of Abu Shaiba (the words are): Do you know the Sura? And he did not mention the words" the last one".

Context and Narration
This narration from Abdullah ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with him) addresses the chronological revelation of Qur'anic chapters. Ibn Abbas inquires about the final complete Surah revealed to the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him), with slight variations in wording between narrators Harun and Abu Shaiba.
Commentary on Surah An-Nasr
Surah An-Nasr (Chapter 110) begins with "When came the help from Allah and the victory," referring to the conquest of Mecca and the subsequent acceptance of Islam by the Arabian tribes. Classical scholars note this Surah's revelation signaled the completion of the Prophet's mission and approaching end of his earthly life.
The concise three verses contain profound meanings: divine assistance, mass conversion to Islam, and instruction to glorify Allah and seek forgiveness. This timing indicates the fulfillment of Islam's initial phase and transition to established religion.
Scholarly Significance
This hadith holds importance in Qur'anic sciences (Ulum al-Qur'an) for determining the chronology of revelation. While some verses were revealed later, this was the final complete chapter. Understanding revelation sequence aids in proper interpretation and application of Islamic rulings.
