Translation

Muhammad ibn Ahmad ibn Abi Khalaf narrated to us: Rawh narrated to us: Ibn Jurayj narrated to us: Abu al-Zubayr informed me that he heard Jabir ibn Abd Allah say: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) intended to forbid naming people Ya la, Baraka, Aflah, Yasar, Nafi, and similar names. Then I saw that he stopped speaking about them and said nothing. The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) then passed away without forbidding that. Umar later intended to forbid it, then abandoned the idea.
