Muhammad ibn al-Muthanna narrated to me: Muhammad ibn Ja‘far narrated to us: Shu‘bah narrated to us. He said: I heard Muhajir Abu al-Hasan narrating that he heard Zayd ibn Wahb narrate from Abu Dharr, who said: The caller of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) gave the call for noon. The Prophet said, “Wait until it cools; wait until it cools”—or he said, “Wait; wait.” He said, “The intensity of the heat comes from the blast of Hell. When the heat is intense, delay the prayer until it cools.” Abu Dharr said: We waited until we saw the shadows of the hills.
