وَحَدَّثَنَا قُتَيْبَةُ بْنُ سَعِيدٍ، حَدَّثَنَا لَيْثٌ، ح وَقَالَ قُتَيْبَةُ حَدَّثَنَا بَكْرٌ، - يَعْنِي ابْنَ مُضَرَ - كِلاَهُمَا عَنِ ابْنِ الْهَادِ، عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ إِبْرَاهِيمَ، عَنْ أَبِي سَلَمَةَ بْنِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ، أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم قَالَ وَفِي حَدِيثِ بَكْرٍ أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم يَقُولُ " أَرَأَيْتُمْ لَوْ أَنَّ نَهْرًا بِبَابِ أَحَدِكُمْ يَغْتَسِلُ مِنْهُ كُلَّ يَوْمٍ خَمْسَ مَرَّاتٍ هَلْ يَبْقَى مِنْ دَرَنِهِ شَىْءٌ " . قَالُوا لاَ يَبْقَى مِنْ دَرَنِهِ شَىْءٌ . قَالَ " فَذَلِكَ مَثَلُ الصَّلَوَاتِ الْخَمْسِ يَمْحُو اللَّهُ بِهِنَّ الْخَطَايَا " .
Qutaybah ibn Sa'id narrated to us; Layth narrated to us. (Another chain.) Qutaybah said: Bakr—meaning Ibn Mudar—narrated to us. Both reported from Ibn al-Had, from Muhammad ibn Ibrahim, from Abu Salamah ibn 'Abd al-Rahman, from Abu Hurayrah, that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said. In Bakr's narration, he heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) say: ‘What do you think? If a river were at someone's door and he bathed in it five times every day, would any grime remain on him?’ They said: ‘No grime would remain on him.’ He said: ‘That is the likeness of the five prayers: through them Allah wipes away sins.’
