The Book of Paradise, its Description, its Bounties and its Inhabitants

Sahih Muslim - Hadith 2836

The Everlasting Nature of Paradise

This noble hadith reveals three fundamental characteristics of Paradise that distinguish it from worldly existence. First, the inhabitant shall never experience poverty or need, for Allah says: "There they will have all that they desire, and with Us is more" (Quran 50:35).

Second, their garments shall never wear out, unlike worldly clothing that deteriorates. This signifies the perfection and permanence of Paradise's blessings, where nothing decays or diminishes.

Third, and most remarkable, their youth shall never fade. Ibn Kathir explains this means inhabitants will remain in the prime of youth eternally, free from aging, illness, or any imperfection. Al-Nawawi comments this demonstrates Paradise's absolute perfection, where blessings are eternal and unaffected by time's corruption.

Spiritual Significance

These three guarantees represent complete security from worldly anxieties: security from poverty, from deterioration of possessions, and from physical decline. This reflects Allah's perfect bounty where nothing of this world's imperfections remains.

The preservation of youth particularly signifies the return to humanity's original state of perfection, as Adam was created. This eternal youth symbolizes spiritual and physical purity, far removed from the weaknesses of old age that precede death in this world.
