Translation

Abu Bakr b. Abdullah b. Qais reported on the authority of his father that Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) said that in Paradise there would be for a believer a tent of a single hollowed pearl the breadth of which would be sixty miles. It would be meant for a believer and the believers would go around it and none would be able to see the others.

The Book of Paradise, its Description, its Bounties and its Inhabitants

Sahih Muslim 2838 a - Commentary by Imam An-Nawawi

The Magnificent Tent of Pearl

The Prophet (ﷺ) describes a tent made from a single hollowed pearl, demonstrating the perfection and magnificence of Paradise's architecture. This is not like earthly tents but a divine creation beyond human comprehension.

The breadth of sixty miles indicates the vast spaciousness each believer will enjoy, reflecting Allah's infinite generosity. Scholars note this measurement refers to the distance a traveler covers in three days, emphasizing the immense scale.

Spiritual Significance

The pearl symbolizes purity and preciousness, reflecting the spiritual state of the believers who will inhabit these dwellings. Their hearts were purified through faith and obedience to Allah in the worldly life.

The believers going around it without seeing others demonstrates both the vastness of Paradise and the perfect contentment each soul will experience, needing nothing beyond what Allah has prepared for them.

Divine Wisdom in Seclusion

The inability to see other believers while circulating the tent indicates the perfect privacy and intimacy each believer will enjoy with their Lord. This seclusion allows for uninterrupted divine communion and reflects the ultimate honor Allah bestows upon His faithful servants.

This hadith inspires believers to strive for Paradise through righteous deeds, anticipating these unimaginable rewards that await the faithful in the eternal abode.
