Abu Bakr ibn Abi Shayba narrated to us: Hafs and Abu Muawiya narrated to us; and Abu Kurayb narrated to us: Abu Muawiya narrated to us. Both reported from al-Amash; and Abu Said al-Ashajj narrated to us: Waki narrated to us: al-Amash narrated to us, from Abu Salih, from Abu Hurayra, who said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: It is better for a man to have his belly filled with pus that corrodes it than to have it filled with poetry. Abu Bakr said that Hafs did not include the words that corrodes it.
