Abdullah ibn Shaqiq al-Uqayli reported: A man said to Ibn Abbas, “The prayer!” He remained silent. The man said it again, and Ibn Abbas remained silent. After the man repeated it a third time, Ibn Abbas said, “May you be bereft of your mother! Are you teaching us about prayer? We used to combine two prayers in the time of the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ).”
