Qutaybah ibn Said and Ali ibn Hujr narrated to us; they said: Ismail—that is, Ibn Jafar—narrated to us, from al-Ala, from his father, from Abu Huraira, that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Do you know who is bankrupt? They said: The bankrupt among us is one who has neither money nor goods. He said: The bankrupt person from my community is one who comes on the Day of Resurrection with prayer, fasting, and zakat, but has insulted this person, slandered that person, consumed this person property, shed that person blood, and struck that person. So some of his good deeds are given to this one and some to that one. If his good deeds run out before he has repaid what he owes, some of their sins are taken and placed upon him, then he is cast into the Fire.
