Arabic hadith text
حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبَّادٍ، وَابْنُ أَبِي عُمَرَ، قَالاَ حَدَّثَنَا مَرْوَانُ، - يَعْنِيَانِ الْفَزَارِيَّ - عَنْ يَزِيدَ، - وَهُوَ ابْنُ كَيْسَانَ - عَنْ أَبِي حَازِمٍ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ، قَالَ قِيلَ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ادْعُ عَلَى الْمُشْرِكِينَ قَالَ " إِنِّي لَمْ أُبْعَثْ لَعَّانًا وَإِنَّمَا بُعِثْتُ رَحْمَةً " .
Translation
Muhammad ibn Abbad and Ibn Abi Umar narrated to us; they said: Marwan—that is, al-Fazari—narrated to us, from Yazid—that is, Ibn Kaysan—from Abu Hazim, from Abu Huraira, who said: It was said: Messenger of Allah, pray against the polytheists. He said: I was not sent as one who curses; I was sent only as a mercy.
