The Book of Virtues

Anas ibn Malik reported that after the Messenger of Allah prayed the dawn prayer, the people who served in Medina brought vessels of water to him. Whenever a vessel was brought, he dipped his hand into it. Sometimes they brought them on a cold morning, and he still dipped his hand into them.

Anas reported: I saw the Messenger of Allah being shaved by a barber while his Companions gathered around him. They wanted every hair to fall into the hand of one of them.

Anas reported that a woman with some impairment in her understanding said: Messenger of Allah, I need something from you. He said: Mother of so-and-so, choose whichever street you wish, and I will take care of what you need. He stepped aside with her in one of the streets and stayed with her until she had finished with her need.

Jabir ibn Samura reported: I prayed the first prayer with the Messenger of Allah. Then he went to his family, and I went with him. Some children came to meet him, and he began wiping each child cheek, one by one. He wiped my cheek too. I felt coolness or a fragrance from his hand, as if it had just been taken from a perfumer container.

Umm Sulaym reported that the Prophet would visit her and take a midday rest there. She would spread a leather mat for him to lie on. He sweated profusely, and she collected his sweat and put it in perfume bottles. The Prophet said: Umm Sulaym, what is this? She said: Your sweat, which I mix into my perfume.

Ubada ibn al-Samit reported that when revelation came to the Prophet of Allah, he felt distressed by it and his face changed color.

Ubada ibn al-Samit reported that when revelation came down to the Prophet, he lowered his head, and his Companions lowered their heads too. When it had passed, he raised his head.
