Meaning of Hajj al-Mabrur

Hajj al-Mabrur refers to the accepted pilgrimage, performed in complete accordance with the Sunnah, free from sins and innovations, and accompanied by sincere intention solely for Allah's pleasure.

The scholars explain that its signs include: spending from lawful wealth, avoiding major sins during pilgrimage, maintaining good conduct with fellow pilgrims, and fulfilling all rites properly.

The Excellence of Hajj al-Mabrur

This hadith indicates the supreme status of the accepted Hajj, for which Paradise is the exclusive reward. No worldly compensation or lesser heavenly reward suffices for such devotion.

Ibn Rajab al-Hanbali comments: "This demonstrates that Hajj al-Mabrur is among the greatest deeds that lead to Paradise, surpassing many other acts of worship in merit."

Expiation Through 'Umrah

The second part teaches that performing one 'Umrah after another expiates the minor sins committed between them. This encourages frequent visitation to the Sacred House.

Al-Nawawi states: "This expiation applies to minor sins only, as major sins require specific repentance. The 'Umrah must be valid and accepted for this benefit."

Practical Implications

Muslims should strive to make their Hajj "mabrur" by learning proper rituals, purifying their wealth, and maintaining excellent character throughout the journey.

The promise of Paradise should motivate believers to perform Hajj with utmost sincerity and according to the Prophet's guidance, not merely as a cultural tradition.
