Hadith Describing The Manner Rasoolullah Drank

باب ما جاء في شرب رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم

Ibn 'Abbas said (may Allah be well pleased with him and his father)

“The Prophet (Allah bless him and give him peace) drank from [the water of] Zamzam while standing.”

'Amr ibn Shu'aib reports on the authority of his father that his grandfather said

"I saw Allah's Messenger (Allah bless him and give him peace) drink while both standing and sitting.”

Ibn 'Abbas said (may Allah be well pleased with him and his father)

"I gave Allah’s Messenger (Allah bless him and give him peace) Zamzam water, and he drank it standing up.”

An-Nazzal ibn Sabra said;"Ali (may Allah be well pleased with him) brought a jug of water, while he was in ar-Rahba, after which he dipped out a handful, washed his hands, rinsed his mouth, snuffed up his nostrils, and wiped his face, his forearms and his head. Then he drank from it while standing. Then he said

'This is the minor ritual ablution of someone who has not excreted any substance that would render him ritually impure. I saw Allah’s Messenger (Allah bless him and give him peace) act in this manner'."

Anas ibn Malik said (may Allah be well pleased with him)

"The Prophet (Allah bless him and give him peace) used to breathe into the vessel three times when he drank, and he would say: 'It is more wholesome and more thirst-quenching!’”

Ibn 'Abbas said (may Allah be well pleased with him and his father)

"When the Prophet drank (Allah bless him and give him peace), he used to take two breaths.”

'Abd ar-Rahman ibn Abi 'Amra said that his grandmother Kabsha said

"The Prophet (Allah bless him and give him peace) entered my presence, then he drank from a suspended waterskin while standing, so I reached up to its mouth and cut it loose.”

Thumama ibn 'Abdi’llah said

“Anas ibn Malik used to breathe into the vessel three times, and Anas ibn Malik maintained that the Prophet (Allah bless him and give him peace) likewise used to breathe into the vessel three times.”

Anas ibn Malik said

"The Prophet (Allah bless him and give him peace) entered the presence of Umm Sulaim, and a waterskin was suspended there, so he drank from the mouth of the waterskin while standing. Umm Sulaim therefore reached up to the head of the waterskin and cut it loose.”

'A’isha bint Sa'd ibn Abi Waqqas reported that her father said

“The Prophet (Allah bless him and give him peace) used to drink while standing.”
