Harun ibn Ishaq al-Hamdani narrated to us: ‘Abdah narrated to us, from Hisham ibn ‘Urwah, from his father, from ‘A’ishah, who said: The Messenger of Allah (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) never struck anything with his hand, except when striving in the path of Allah; nor did he strike a servant or a woman.
Notes and open questions — unreviewed
The full chain is included; the English witness begins with ‘A’ishah.
The Arabic sets out an exception for striving in Allah’s path, then separately states that he never struck a servant or a woman.
