Muhammad ibn Bashshar narrated to us: ‘Abd al-Rahman ibn Mahdi narrated to us: Sufyan narrated to us, from Muhammad ibn al-Munkadir, who said: I heard Jabir ibn ‘Abd Allah say: The Messenger of Allah (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) was never asked for anything and then said, “No.”

Notes and open questions — unreviewed
  • The complete chain is included; the English witness begins with Jabir ibn ‘Abd Allah.

  • The Arabic is a general negative statement: he was never asked for anything without responding no.
