حَدَّثَنَا قُتَيْبَةُ، وَهَنَّادٌ، قَالاَ حَدَّثَنَا وَكِيعٌ، عَنْ زَكَرِيَّا بْنِ أَبِي زَائِدَةَ، عَنْ مُصْعَبِ بْنِ شَيْبَةَ، عَنْ طَلْقِ بْنِ حَبِيبٍ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ الزُّبَيْرِ، عَنْ عَائِشَةَ، أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ صلى الله عليه وسلم قَالَ " عَشْرٌ مِنَ الْفِطْرَةِ قَصُّ الشَّارِبِ وَإِعْفَاءُ اللِّحْيَةِ وَالسِّوَاكُ وَالاِسْتِنْشَاقُ وَقَصُّ الأَظْفَارِ وَغَسْلُ الْبَرَاجِمِ وَنَتْفُ الإِبْطِ وَحَلْقُ الْعَانَةِ وَانْتِقَاصُ الْمَاءِ " . قَالَ زَكَرِيَّا قَالَ مُصْعَبٌ وَنَسِيتُ الْعَاشِرَةَ إِلاَّ أَنْ تَكُونَ الْمَضْمَضَةَ . قَالَ أَبُو عُبَيْدٍ انْتِقَاصُ الْمَاءِ الاِسْتِنْجَاءُ بِالْمَاءِ . وَفِي الْبَابِ عَنْ عَمَّارِ بْنِ يَاسِرٍ وَابْنِ عُمَرَ وَأَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ . قَالَ أَبُو عِيسَى هَذَا حَدِيثٌ حَسَنٌ .

‘A’ishah reported that the Prophet said: ‘Ten practices are part of the fitrah: trimming the moustache, letting the beard grow, using the tooth-stick, rinsing the nose, clipping the nails, washing the finger joints, plucking the armpit hair, shaving the pubic hair, and cleaning with water.’
Zakariyya said that Mus‘ab added: ‘I forgot the tenth, unless it was rinsing the mouth.’ Abu ‘Ubayd said that intiqas with water means washing after relieving oneself. There are reports on this topic from ‘Ammar ibn Yasir, Ibn ‘Umar, and Abu Hurayrah. Abu ‘Isa said: This is a hasan hadith.
Notes and open questions — unreviewed
The source enumerates ten but the narrator explicitly says he forgot the tenth and only suggests it may be rinsing the mouth. Abu ‘Ubayd explains intiqas al-ma’ as washing with water after using the toilet; ‘finger joints’ translates al-barajim.
