حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ بَشَّارٍ، حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ سَعِيدٍ، حَدَّثَنَا عِكْرِمَةُ بْنُ عَمَّارٍ، عَنْ إِيَاسِ بْنِ سَلَمَةَ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صلى الله عليه وسلم نَحْوَهُ إِلاَّ أَنَّهُ قَالَ لَهُ فِي الثَّالِثَةِ " أَنْتَ مَزْكُومٌ " . قَالَ هَذَا أَصَحُّ مِنْ حَدِيثِ ابْنِ الْمُبَارَكِ .

Muhammad ibn Bashshar reported: Yahya ibn Sa‘id narrated from ‘Ikrimah ibn ‘Ammar, from Iyas ibn Salamah, from his father, from the Prophet, a similar report, except that on the third occasion he said to the man, ‘You have a cold.’ He said: This is more authentic than the narration of Ibn al-Mubarak.

This variant makes the diagnosis directly to the man (‘You have a cold’), and the compiler prefers it to Ibn al-Mubarak’s version.
