‘Abd al-Rahman ibn Mahdi narrated it from ‘Ikrimah ibn ‘Ammar in a wording similar to Ibn al-Mubarak’s version, but on the third occasion he said to the man, ‘You have a cold.’ Ishaq ibn Mansur reported this route from ‘Abd al-Rahman ibn Mahdi.

  • This variant agrees with the wording that directly tells the man, ‘You have a cold.’
