Jami` at-Tirmidhi 2850
حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ حُجْرٍ، أَخْبَرَنَا شَرِيكٌ، عَنْ سِمَاكٍ، عَنْ جَابِرِ بْنِ سَمُرَةَ، قَالَ جَالَسْتُ النَّبِيَّ صلى الله عليه وسلم أَكْثَرَ مِنْ مِائَةِ مَرَّةٍ فَكَانَ أَصْحَابُهُ يَتَنَاشَدُونَ الشِّعْرَ وَيَتَذَاكَرُونَ أَشْيَاءَ مِنْ أَمْرِ الْجَاهِلِيَّةِ وَهُوَ سَاكِتٌ فَرُبَّمَا تَبَسَّمَ مَعَهُمْ . قَالَ أَبُو عِيسَى هَذَا حَدِيثٌ حَسَنٌ صَحِيحٌ . وَقَدْ رَوَاهُ زُهَيْرٌ عَنْ سِمَاكٍ أَيْضًا .

Jabir ibn Samurah said, ‘I sat with the Prophet more than a hundred times. His Companions would recite poetry and recall things from the pre-Islamic era while he remained silent; at times, he would smile with them.’
