حَدَّثَنَا مَحْمُودُ بْنُ غَيْلاَنَ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو أَحْمَدَ، حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ، عَنِ الأَعْمَشِ، عَنْ أَبِي وَائِلٍ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ، قَالَ كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم يَتَخَوَّلُنَا بِالْمَوْعِظَةِ فِي الأَيَّامِ مَخَافَةَ السَّآمَةِ عَلَيْنَا . قَالَ أَبُو عِيسَى هَذَا حَدِيثٌ حَسَنٌ صَحِيحٌ .

‘Abd Allah reported, ‘The Messenger of Allah would choose particular days to exhort us, fearing that we might grow weary.’

Abu ‘Isa graded this hadith hasan sahih. The Arabic yatakhawwaluna bi-l-maw‘izah conveys that he carefully varied or selected times for admonition so the Companions would not become bored.
