Jabir ibn ‘Abd Allah reported that the Messenger of Allah said, ‘Cover your vessels, tie up your water skins, close the doors, and extinguish the lamps, for a little mouse may drag away the wick and set the people of the house on fire.’ This was also transmitted through other routes from Jabir from the Prophet. Abu ‘Isa graded this hadith hasan sahih.

Notes and open questions — unreviewed
  • The Arabic calls the mouse al-fuwaysiqah, a diminutive epithet meaning a little troublemaker or mischief-maker. The English witness identifies it as vermin.
