حَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ، أَخْبَرَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ الْمُبَارَكِ، أَخْبَرَنَا مَعْمَرٌ، عَنِ ابْنِ شِهَابٍ، حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ أَبِي بَكْرِ بْنِ حَزْمٍ، عَنْ عُرْوَةَ، عَنْ عَائِشَةَ، قَالَتْ دَخَلَتِ امْرَأَةٌ مَعَهَا ابْنَتَانِ لَهَا فَسَأَلَتْ فَلَمْ تَجِدْ عِنْدِي شَيْئًا غَيْرَ تَمْرَةٍ فَأَعْطَيْتُهَا إِيَّاهَا فَقَسَمَتْهَا بَيْنَ ابْنَتَيْهَا وَلَمْ تَأْكُلْ مِنْهَا ثُمَّ قَامَتْ فَخَرَجَتْ فَدَخَلَ النَّبِيُّ صلى الله عليه وسلم فَأَخْبَرْتُهُ فَقَالَ النَّبِيُّ صلى الله عليه وسلم " مَنِ ابْتُلِيَ بِشَيْءٍ مِنْ هَذِهِ الْبَنَاتِ كُنَّ لَهُ سِتْرًا مِنَ النَّارِ " . هَذَا حَدِيثٌ حَسَنٌ صَحِيحٌ .

Ahmad ibn Muhammad narrated to us: ‘Abd Allah ibn al-Mubarak informed us: Ma‘mar informed us, from Ibn Shihab, who said: ‘Abd Allah ibn Abi Bakr ibn Hazm narrated to us, from ‘Urwah, from ‘A’ishah, who said: A woman came in with her two daughters and asked for help. I had nothing with me except a date, so I gave it to her. She divided it between her daughters and ate none of it herself. Then she got up and left. The Prophet ﷺ came in, and I told him about her. The Prophet ﷺ said: “Whoever is tested through these daughters, they will be a shield for him from the Fire.”
This hadith is hasan sahih.
Notes and open questions — unreviewed
The Arabic does not specify what the woman asked for. The final pronouns in the English witness are inconsistent; the Arabic says the daughters will be a shield for the person tested through them.

Should the complete isnad be included in the English record?

The witness ends with plural pronouns referring ambiguously to the caregiver, while the Arabic says the daughters will be a shield for the person tested through them.
