حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ عِمْرَانَ أَبُو الْقَاسِمِ الْمَكِّيُّ الْقُرَشِيُّ، حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الْعَزِيزِ بْنُ أَبِي حَازِمٍ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، عَنْ سَهْلِ بْنِ سَعْدٍ، قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم " أَنَا وَكَافِلُ الْيَتِيمِ فِي الْجَنَّةِ كَهَاتَيْنِ " . وَأَشَارَ بِأُصْبُعَيْهِ يَعْنِي السَّبَّابَةَ وَالْوُسْطَى . قَالَ أَبُو عِيسَى هَذَا حَدِيثٌ حَسَنٌ صَحِيحٌ .

‘Abd Allah ibn ‘Imran, Abu al-Qasim al-Makki al-Qurashi, narrated to us: ‘Abd al-‘Aziz ibn Abi Hazim narrated to us, from his father, from Sahl ibn Sa‘d, who said: The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: “I and the caretaker of an orphan will be in Paradise like these two,” and he gestured with his two fingers, meaning the index and middle fingers.
Abu ‘Isa said: This hadith is hasan sahih.
Notes and open questions — unreviewed
Kafil al-yatim means one who takes responsibility for an orphan’s care; ‘caretaker’ is used here. The Arabic specifies the index and middle fingers.

Should the full chain be kept in the translated record?
وَأَشَارَ بِأُصْبُعَيْهِ يَعْنِي السَّبَّابَةَ وَالْوُسْطَى .
The Arabic identifies the index and middle fingers specifically; the witness says only ‘his fingers’ before adding their identities in a separate phrase.
Should the finger identification remain in the main sentence?
