Al-Hasan ibn ‘Ali al-Khallal and several others narrated to us. They said: Abu Usamah narrated to us, from Burayd ibn ‘Abd Allah ibn Abi Burdah, from his grandfather Abu Burdah, from Abu Musa al-Ash‘ari, who said: The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: “A believer is to another believer like a building, each part strengthening the others.”
Abu ‘Isa said: This hadith is hasan sahih.
Notes and open questions — unreviewed
The building metaphor is preserved: its parts strengthen one another, expressing mutual support among believers.
The witness omits all named transmitters before Abu Musa al-Ash‘ari.
Should the full chain be included in the English record?
The Arabic says each part of a building strengthens the others; the witness expresses this as each part supporting another.
Should the metaphor remain phrased as ‘each part strengthening the others’?
The Arabic includes a hasan sahih grade absent from the witness.
Should the grade be retained in the translation?
