Translation

Unreviewed translation. All hadiths in this collection are available in five languages. Titles and introductions may remain in Arabic.

‘Ubayd ibn Asbat ibn Muhammad al-Qurashi narrated to us: My father narrated to me, from al-A‘mash, who said: I was told from Abu Salih, from Abu Hurayrah, from the Prophet ﷺ, who said: “Whoever relieves a Muslim of a distress in this world, Allah will relieve him of a distress on the Day of Resurrection. Whoever makes things easier for someone in hardship in this world, Allah will make things easier for him in this world and the Hereafter. Whoever conceals a Muslim’s faults in this world, Allah will conceal his faults in this world and the Hereafter. Allah continues to aid the servant as long as the servant aids his brother.”

There are also reports on this topic from Ibn ‘Umar and ‘Uqbah ibn ‘Amir. Abu ‘Isa said: This hadith is hasan. Abu ‘Awanah and several others narrated this hadith from al-A‘mash, from Abu Salih, from Abu Hurayrah, from the Prophet ﷺ, with similar wording, but they did not mention the phrase “I was told from Abu Salih.”

Notes and open questions — unreviewed
  • The source notes an isnad variation: this version includes al-A‘mash’s phrase ‘I was told from Abu Salih’, while Abu ‘Awanah and others do not mention it.

  • قَالَ حُدِّثْتُ عَنْ أَبِي صَالِحٍ،

This chain includes the passive wording ‘I was told from Abu Salih’; the compiler says other transmitters omit this phrase.

Should this indirect link remain explicit in the translation?

  • حَدَّثَنَا عُبَيْدُ بْنُ أَسْبَاطِ بْنِ مُحَمَّدٍ الْقُرَشِيُّ،

The English witness omits all transmitters in the source chain.

Should the complete isnad be retained in the translation?

The compiler records that Abu ‘Awanah and others transmit similar wording without al-A‘mash’s phrase ‘I was told from Abu Salih’.

Should the chain variant be included in the translated record?
