Qutaybah narrated to us: al-Layth ibn Sa‘d narrated to us, from Yahya ibn Sa‘id, from Abu Bakr—that is, the son of Muhammad ibn ‘Amr ibn Hazm—from ‘Amrah, from ‘A’ishah, that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: “Jibril continued to urge me to treat the neighbor well until I thought that he would make him an heir.”
Abu ‘Isa said: This hadith is hasan sahih.
Notes and open questions — unreviewed
The source uses the phrase ‘make him an heir’, expressing the extraordinary emphasis on neighbors’ rights. The English witness adds a blessing for Jibril that is not present in this Arabic text.
The witness adds ‘may the Salawat of Allah be upon him’ after Jibril, whereas the Arabic source simply names Jibril.
Should the added honorific be excluded from the source-aligned translation?
حَدَّثَنَا قُتَيْبَةُ،
The witness omits the chain and the identification of Abu Bakr in the Arabic isnad.
Should the complete chain and name clarification be retained?
قَالَ أَبُو عِيسَى هَذَا حَدِيثٌ حَسَنٌ صَحِيحٌ .
The hasan sahih grade appears in Arabic but not in the English witness.
Should Abu ‘Isa’s grading be included?
