حَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ، حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ الْمُبَارَكِ، عَنْ حَيْوَةَ بْنِ شُرَيْحٍ، عَنْ شُرَحْبِيلَ بْنِ شَرِيكٍ، عَنْ أَبِي عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ الْحُبُلِيِّ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عَمْرٍو، قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم " خَيْرُ الأَصْحَابِ عِنْدَ اللَّهِ خَيْرُهُمْ لِصَاحِبِهِ وَخَيْرُ الْجِيرَانِ عِنْدَ اللَّهِ خَيْرُهُمْ لِجَارِهِ " . قَالَ أَبُو عِيسَى هَذَا حَدِيثٌ حَسَنٌ غَرِيبٌ . وَأَبُو عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ الْحُبُلِيُّ اسْمُهُ عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ يَزِيدَ .

Ahmad ibn Muhammad narrated to us: ‘Abd Allah ibn al-Mubarak narrated to us, from Haywah ibn Shurayh, from Shurahbil ibn Sharik, from Abu ‘Abd al-Rahman al-Hubuli, from ‘Abd Allah ibn ‘Amr, who said: The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: “The best of companions in Allah’s sight is the one who is best to his companion, and the best of neighbors in Allah’s sight is the one who is best to his neighbor.”
Abu ‘Isa said: This hadith is hasan gharib. Abu ‘Abd al-Rahman al-Hubuli’s name was ‘Abd Allah ibn Yazid.

The compiler identifies Abu ‘Abd al-Rahman al-Hubuli by his personal name, ‘Abd Allah ibn Yazid.

The witness omits the Arabic transmission chain before ‘Abd Allah ibn ‘Amr.
Should the complete isnad be included?
قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم " خَيْرُ الأَصْحَابِ عِنْدَ اللَّهِ خَيْرُهُمْ لِصَاحِبِهِ وَخَيْرُ الْجِيرَانِ عِنْدَ اللَّهِ خَيْرُهُمْ لِجَارِهِ " .
The Arabic gives a parallel maxim about the best companions and best neighbors as judged by Allah.
Should ‘in Allah’s sight’ be retained for both clauses?
وَأَبُو عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ الْحُبُلِيُّ اسْمُهُ عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ يَزِيدَ .
The compiler states that Abu ‘Abd al-Rahman al-Hubuli’s name was ‘Abd Allah ibn Yazid, which the witness omits.
