‘Abbas al-Duri and several others narrated to us: They said: ‘Abd Allah ibn Yazid al-Muqri’ narrated to us: Sa‘id ibn Abi Ayyub narrated to us: Abu Marhum ‘Abd al-Rahim ibn Maymun narrated to me, from Sahl ibn Mu‘adh ibn Anas al-Juhani, from his father, from the Prophet ﷺ, who said: “Whoever restrains his anger when he is able to give vent to it, Allah will summon him on the Day of Resurrection before all creation and let him choose whichever of the hūr he wishes.” This hadith is hasan gharib.

Notes and open questions — unreviewed
  • The source says several narrators transmitted the report with ‘Abbas al-Duri. Hūr is retained as a transliterated term rather than specifying a description absent from this wording.

The report conditions restraining anger on being able to carry it out or give vent to it, then promises a choice among the hūr.

Does “when he is able to give vent to it” preserve the condition without adding a particular act of retaliation?

The source says al-hur without further description in this passage.

Should hūr remain transliterated rather than being rendered with added details?
