Muhammad ibn Bashshar narrated to us; Safwan ibn ‘Isa narrated to us; Muhammad ibn ‘Ajlan narrated to us, from al-Qa‘qa‘, from Abu Salih, from Abu Hurayrah, that a man was supplicating with two fingers. The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said, ‘Make it one, make it one.’ Abu ‘Isa said: ‘This is a hasan sahih gharib hadith. Its meaning is that when a man points with two fingers during supplication at the testimony, he should point with only one finger.’

Notes and open questions — unreviewed
  • ‏ قَالَ أَبُو عِيسَى هَذَا حَدِيثٌ حَسَنٌ صَحِيحٌ غَرِيبٌ ‏.

The Arabic specifies the context: pointing while supplicating during the tashahhud, and using only one finger. The English witness omits this explanation and the grade.

Should the contextual note and grade be tracked for the English witness?
