Husayn ibn Yazid al-Kufi narrated to us; Abu Yahya al-Himmani narrated to us; ‘Uthman ibn Waqid narrated to us, from Abu Nusayrah, from a freedman of Abu Bakr, from Abu Bakr, that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: ‘A person who seeks forgiveness is not persisting in sin, even if he does so seventy times in a day.’ Abu ‘Isa said: ‘This is a gharib hadith. We know it only through the narration of Abu Nusayrah, and its chain is not strong.’

Al-Tirmidhi calls this gharib, says it is known only through Abu Nusayrah, and explicitly says the chain is not strong; the English witness omits this evaluation.
Should the chain assessment be retained alongside the English witness?
