Sa‘d used to teach his sons this supplication, just as a writing teacher teaches boys to write: ‘O Allah, I seek refuge in You from cowardice; I seek refuge in You from miserliness; I seek refuge in You from decrepit old age; and I seek refuge in You from the trials of this world and the punishment of the grave.’ ‘Abd Allah ibn ‘Abd al-Rahman said: Abu Ishaq al-Hamdani is inconsistent in this hadith. At times he reports it from ‘Amr ibn Maymun, from ‘Umar; at other times he reports it from someone else. He is inconsistent in it. Abu ‘Isa graded it hasan sahih through this route.

The English witness omits ‘Abd Allah ibn ‘Abd al-Rahman’s note that Abu Ishaq is inconsistent in this hadith and varies in its chain.
Should the narrator inconsistency and chain variation be retained in the English witness?
