Abu Musa, Muhammad ibn al-Muthanna, narrated to us: Muhammad ibn Ja‘far narrated to us, from Shu‘bah, from Yazid ibn Khumayr al-Shami, from ‘Abd Allah ibn Busr, who said: The Messenger of Allah ﷺ stayed with my father, and we brought him food. He ate some, then dates were brought to him. He ate them and discarded the pits with two fingers—joining his index and middle fingers. Shu‘bah said: ‘That is what I think it was, Allah willing’—and he discarded the pits between two fingers. Then a drink was brought to him; he drank and passed it to the person on his right. My father, holding the bridle of his mount, said: ‘Pray for us.’ He said: ‘O Allah, bless for them what You have provided them, forgive them, and have mercy on them.’ Abu ‘Isa said: This is a hasan sahih hadith. It has also been narrated from ‘Abd Allah ibn Busr through another route.
