Bilal ibn Yasar ibn Zayd, the Prophet’s freedman, reported: My father told me, from my grandfather, who heard the Prophet ﷺ say: ‘Whoever says, “I seek forgiveness from Allah the Magnificent—there is no god but Him, the Ever-Living, the Sustainer—and I repent to Him,” will be forgiven, even if he fled from battle.’ Abu ‘Isa said: This is a gharib hadith; we know it only through this route.
