‘Ali ibn Hujr narrated to us: ‘Abdullah ibn Ja‘far narrated to us: Suhayl ibn Abi Salih informed us, from his father, from Abu Hurayrah, who said: The Messenger of Allah used to teach his Companions to say: ‘When one of you reaches the morning, let him say, “O Allah, by You we enter the morning and by You we enter the evening; by You we live and by You we die; and to You is the return.” When evening comes, let him say, “O Allah, by You we enter the evening and by You we enter the morning; by You we live and by You we die; and to You is the resurrection.”’ Abu ‘Isa said: This hadith is hasan.
Notes and open questions — unreviewed
