حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو كُرَيْبٍ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو خَالِدٍ الأَحْمَرُ، عَنْ هِشَامِ بْنِ الْغَازِ، عَنْ مَكْحُولٍ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ، قَالَ قَالَ لِي رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم " أَكْثِرْ مِنْ قَوْلِ لاَ حَوْلَ وَلاَ قُوَّةَ إِلاَّ بِاللَّهِ فَإِنَّهَا كَنْزٌ مِنْ كُنُوزِ الْجَنَّةِ " . قَالَ مَكْحُولٌ فَمَنْ قَالَ لاَ حَوْلَ وَلاَ قُوَّةَ إِلاَّ بِاللَّهِ وَلاَ مَنْجَا مِنَ اللَّهِ إِلاَّ إِلَيْهِ . كَشَفَ عَنْهُ سَبْعِينَ بَابًا مِنَ الضُّرِّ أَدْنَاهُنَّ الْفَقْرُ " . قَالَ أَبُو عِيسَى هَذَا حَدِيثٌ لَيْسَ إِسْنَادُهُ بِمُتَّصِلٍ . مَكْحُولٌ لَمْ يَسْمَعْ مِنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ .

Abu Hurayrah reported that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said to him: ‘Say often: “There is no might or power except through Allah,” for it is a treasure from the treasures of Paradise.’ Mak’hul added: Whoever says, ‘There is no might or power except through Allah, and there is no escape from Allah except to Him,’ seventy doors of hardship will be opened away from him; the least of them is poverty. Abu ‘Isa said: This hadith’s chain is not connected; Mak’hul did not hear from Abu Hurayrah.
Notes and open questions — unreviewed
مَكْحُولٌ لَمْ يَسْمَعْ مِنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ .
The English witness omits Mak’hul’s additional statement about seventy doors of hardship and Abu ‘Isa’s judgment that the chain is disconnected because Mak’hul did not hear from Abu Hurayrah.
