حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ حُجْرٍ، أَخْبَرَنَا بَقِيَّةُ بْنُ الْوَلِيدِ، عَنْ بَحِيرِ بْنِ سَعْدٍ، عَنْ خَالِدِ بْنِ مَعْدَانَ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ أَبِي بِلاَلٍ، عَنِ الْعِرْبَاضِ بْنِ سَارِيَةَ، رضى الله عَنْهُ أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ صلى الله عليه وسلم كَانَ لاَ يَنَامُ حَتَّى يَقْرَأَ الْمُسَبِّحَاتِ وَيَقُولُ " فِيهَا آيَةٌ خَيْرٌ مِنْ أَلْفِ آيَةٍ " . هَذَا حَدِيثٌ حَسَنٌ غَرِيبٌ .

‘Ali ibn Hujr informed us: Baqiyyah ibn al-Walid informed us, from Buhayr ibn Sa‘d, from Khalid ibn Ma‘dan, from ‘Abdullah ibn Abi Bilal, from al-‘Irbad ibn Sariyah (may Allah be pleased with him), that the Prophet would not sleep until he recited the al-Musabbihat [surahs beginning with glorification of Allah], and he would say: ‘In them is a verse better than a thousand verses.’ This hadith is hasan gharib.
