Muhammad ibn Isma‘il ibn Samurah al-Ahmasi al-Kufi narrated to us: Asbat ibn Muhammad narrated to us: ‘Amr ibn Qays al-Mula’i narrated to us, from al-Hakam ibn ‘Utaybah, from ‘Abd al-Rahman ibn Abi Layla, from Ka‘b ibn ‘Ujrah, from the Prophet, who said: ‘Phrases repeated after the prayers: no one who says them will be disappointed. Glorify Allah thirty-three times after every prayer, praise Him thirty-three times, and proclaim His greatness thirty-four times.’ Abu ‘Isa said: This hadith is hasan. ‘Amr ibn Qays al-Mula’i is trustworthy and precise in memorization. Shu‘bah narrated this hadith from al-Hakam without attributing it to the Prophet, while Mansur ibn al-Mu‘tamir narrated it from al-Hakam and attributed it to him.
Notes and open questions — unreviewed
The word mu‘aqqibat refers to repeated phrases said after prayer. The compiler distinguishes the routes: Shu‘bah’s version stops at a transmitter, while Mansur’s version attributes the report to the Prophet.
