‘Umar ibn Isma‘il ibn Mujalid ibn Sa‘id narrated to us: My father narrated to us, from ‘Abd al-Malik ibn ‘Umayr, from Rib‘i, from Hudhayfah ibn al-Yaman (may Allah be pleased with them both), that when the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) wanted to sleep, he would say: ‘O Allah, in Your name I die and live.’ When he awoke, he would say: ‘Praise belongs to Allah, who brought my soul back to life after causing it to die; and to Him is the resurrection.’ Abu ‘Isa said: ‘This is a hasan sahih hadith.’
