حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ حُجْرٍ، حَدَّثَنَا إِسْمَاعِيلُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ، عَنْ حُمَيْدٍ، عَنْ أَنَسٍ، أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ صلى الله عليه وسلم كَانَ إِذَا قَدِمَ مِنْ سَفَرٍ فَنَظَرَ إِلَى جُدُرَاتِ الْمَدِينَةِ أَوْضَعَ رَاحِلَتَهُ وَإِنْ كَانَ عَلَى دَابَّةٍ حَرَّكَهَا مِنْ حُبِّهَا . قَالَ أَبُو عِيسَى هَذَا حَدِيثٌ حَسَنٌ صَحِيحٌ غَرِيبٌ .

‘Ali ibn Hujr narrated to us; Isma‘il ibn Ja‘far narrated to us, from Humayd, from Anas, that when the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) returned from a journey and saw the walls of Madinah, he urged his riding mount onward. If he was riding another animal, he would make it move faster, out of his love for Madinah. Abu ‘Isa said: ‘This is a hasan sahih gharib hadith.’
