Qutaybah ibn Sa‘id narrated to us; Bakr ibn Mudar narrated to us, from Ibn al-Had, from ‘Abdullah ibn Khabbab, from Abu Sa‘id al-Khudri, who heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) say: ‘When one of you sees a dream he likes, it is from Allah, so let him praise Allah for it and speak about what he saw. If he sees something else that he dislikes, it is from Satan, so let him seek refuge in Allah from its evil and not tell anyone about it; it will not harm him.’ He said: ‘There is also a report on this subject from Abu Qatadah. This is a hasan sahih gharib hadith through this route. Ibn al-Had’s name is Yazid ibn ‘Abdullah ibn Usamah ibn al-Had al-Madani. He is trustworthy; Malik and others narrated from him.’’

The Arabic adds a report on the subject from Abu Qatadah and an evaluation of Ibn al-Had; the English witness omits these compiler comments.
