Muhammad ibn ‘Abd al-A‘la, a Basran, narrated to us; ‘Uththam ibn ‘Ali narrated to us, from al-A‘mash, from ‘Ata’ ibn al-Sa’ib, from his father, from ‘Abdullah ibn ‘Amr, who said: ‘I saw the Prophet counting the glorifications.’ He said: ‘This is a hasan gharib hadith through this route, from the report of al-A‘mash, from ‘Ata’ ibn al-Sa’ib. Shu‘bah and al-Thawri narrated this hadith from ‘Ata’ ibn al-Sa’ib at greater length. There is also a report on this subject from Yusayrah bint Yasir, from the Prophet, who said: “Women, count on your fingertips, for they will be questioned and made to speak.”’
