حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ بْنُ وَكِيعٍ، حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ أَبِي عَدِيٍّ، عَنْ حَمَّادِ بْنِ سَلَمَةَ، عَنْ أَبِي جَعْفَرٍ الْخَطْمِيِّ، عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ كَعْبٍ الْقُرَظِيِّ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ يَزِيدَ الْخَطْمِيِّ الأَنْصَارِيِّ، عَنْ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم أَنَّهُ كَانَ يَقُولُ فِي دُعَائِهِ " اللَّهُمَّ ارْزُقْنِي حُبَّكَ وَحُبَّ مَنْ يَنْفَعُنِي حُبُّهُ عِنْدَكَ اللَّهُمَّ مَا رَزَقْتَنِي مِمَّا أُحِبُّ فَاجْعَلْهُ قُوَّةً لِي فِيمَا تُحِبُّ اللَّهُمَّ وَمَا زَوَيْتَ عَنِّي مِمَّا أُحِبُّ فَاجْعَلْهُ لِي فَرَاغًا فِيمَا تُحِبُّ " . قَالَ أَبُو عِيسَى هَذَا حَدِيثٌ حَسَنٌ غَرِيبٌ وَأَبُو جَعْفَرٍ الْخَطْمِيُّ اسْمُهُ عُمَيْرُ بْنُ يَزِيدَ بْنِ خُمَاشَةَ .

Sufyan ibn Waki‘ narrated to us; Ibn Abi ‘Adi narrated to us, from Hammad ibn Salamah, from Abu Ja‘far al-Khatmi, from Muhammad ibn Ka‘b al-Qurazi, from ‘Abd Allah ibn Yazid al-Khatmi al-Ansari, from the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), that he used to say in his supplication: ‘O Allah, provide me with love for You and the love of those whose love benefits me with You. O Allah, whatever You provide me of what I love, make it a strength for me in what You love. And whatever You withhold from me of what I love, make it a free time for me to devote to what You love.’ Abu ‘Isa said: ‘This is a hasan gharib hadith. Abu Ja‘far al-Khatmi’s name is ‘Umayr ibn Yazid ibn Khumashah.’

قَالَ أَبُو عِيسَى هَذَا حَدِيثٌ حَسَنٌ غَرِيبٌ وَأَبُو جَعْفَرٍ الْخَطْمِيُّ اسْمُهُ عُمَيْرُ بْنُ يَزِيدَ بْنِ خُمَاشَةَ .
The Arabic includes the compiler grade and identification of Abu Ja‘far; the English witness omits both.
Should the compiler’s grade and narrator identification be tracked as witness differences?
