حَدَّثَنَا هَنَّادٌ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو الأَحْوَصِ، عَنْ أَبِي إِسْحَاقَ، عَنْ جُرَىٍّ النَّهْدِيِّ، عَنْ رَجُلٍ، مِنْ بَنِي سُلَيْمٍ قَالَ عَدَّهُنَّ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم فِي يَدِي أَوْ فِي يَدِهِ " التَّسْبِيحُ نِصْفُ الْمِيزَانِ وَالْحَمْدُ يَمْلَؤُهُ وَالتَّكْبِيرُ يَمْلأُ مَا بَيْنَ السَّمَاءِ وَالأَرْضِ وَالصَّوْمُ نِصْفُ الصَّبْرِ وَالطُّهُورُ نِصْفُ الإِيمَانِ " . قَالَ أَبُو عِيسَى هَذَا حَدِيثٌ حَسَنٌ وَقَدْ رَوَاهُ شُعْبَةُ وَسُفْيَانُ الثَّوْرِيُّ عَنْ أَبِي إِسْحَاقَ .

Hannad narrated to us; Abu al-Ahwas narrated to us, from Abu Ishaq, from Jurayy al-Nahdi, from a man of Banu Sulaym, who said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) counted these on my hand—or on his hand: ‘Glorifying Allah is half of the Scale; praise be to Allah fills it; magnifying Allah fills what is between heaven and earth; fasting is half of patience; and purification is half of faith.’ Abu ‘Isa said: ‘This is a hasan hadith. Shu‘bah and Sufyan al-Thawri also narrated it from Abu Ishaq.’

قَالَ أَبُو عِيسَى هَذَا حَدِيثٌ حَسَنٌ وَقَدْ رَوَاهُ شُعْبَةُ وَسُفْيَانُ الثَّوْرِيُّ عَنْ أَبِي إِسْحَاقَ .
The English witness omits the compiler’s grade and note that Shu‘bah and Sufyan al-Thawri also narrated it from Abu Ishaq.
