‘Ali ibn Hujr narrated to us; Isma‘il ibn ‘Ayyash narrated to us, from Muhammad ibn Ishaq, from ‘Amr ibn Shu‘ayb, from his father, from his grandfather, that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: ‘When one of you is frightened in his sleep, let him say: “I seek refuge in the perfect words of Allah from His anger, His punishment, the evil of His servants, the promptings of the devils, and their coming to me.” They will not harm him.’ ‘Abd Allah ibn ‘Amr used to teach this to his children who had reached maturity. For those who had not, he would write it on a sheet and hang it around their necks. Abu ‘Isa said: ‘This is a hasan gharib hadith.’

  • ‏ قَالَ أَبُو عِيسَى هَذَا حَدِيثٌ حَسَنٌ غَرِيبٌ ‏.

The English witness omits al-Tirmidhi’s hasan gharib grade.

Should this grade be tracked as an omission?
