Musa ibn ‘Abd al-Rahman al-Kindi al-Kufi narrated to us; Zayd ibn Hubab narrated to us, saying: Sufyan al-Thawri informed me, from Muhammad ibn ‘Abd al-Rahman ibn Abi Layla, from al-Sha‘bi, from ‘Abd al-Rahman ibn Abi Layla, from Abu Ayyub al-Ansari, who said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: ‘Whoever says ten times, “There is no god but Allah alone, without partner; to Him belongs sovereignty and praise; He gives life and causes death, and He has power over all things,” it is equivalent for him to free four slaves from the descendants of Ishmael.’ He said: ‘This hadith has also been narrated from Abu Ayyub as a statement of his, not attributed to the Prophet.’

  • ‏ قَالَ وَقَدْ رُوِيَ هَذَا الْحَدِيثُ عَنْ أَبِي أَيُّوبَ مَوْقُوفًا ‏.

The Arabic notes that this report has also been transmitted as a statement of Abu Ayyub, not raised to the Prophet; the English witness omits this.
