Hannād narrated to us: ʿAbdah narrated to us, from Muḥammad ibn ʿAmr, who narrated to me from my father, from my grandfather, who said: I heard Bilāl ibn al-Ḥārith al-Muzanī, a Companion of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), say: I heard the Messenger of Allah say: 'One of you may utter a word pleasing to Allah, not realizing how far it will reach, and Allah will decree His good pleasure for him on account of it until the Day he meets Him. And one of you may utter a word that angers Allah, not realizing how far it will reach, and Allah will decree His anger against him on account of it until the Day he meets Him.' Reports on this subject are also related from Umm Ḥabībah. He said: 'This hadith is ḥasan ṣaḥīḥ.' More than one narrator transmitted it from Muḥammad ibn ʿAmr in this way, through his father, his grandfather, and Bilāl ibn al-Ḥārith. Mālik transmitted it from Muḥammad ibn ʿAmr, from his father, from Bilāl ibn al-Ḥārith, omitting 'from his grandfather.'
