حَدَّثَنَا هَنَّادٌ، وَقُتَيْبَةُ، قَالاَ حَدَّثَنَا حَاتِمُ بْنُ إِسْمَاعِيلَ، عَنْ عِمْرَانَ بْنِ مُسْلِمٍ الْقَصِيرِ، عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ سَلْمَانَ، عَنْ يَزِيدَ بْنِ نُعَامَةَ الضَّبِّيِّ، قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم " إِذَا آخَى الرَّجُلُ الرَّجُلَ فَلْيَسْأَلْهُ عَنِ اسْمِهِ وَاسْمِ أَبِيهِ وَمِمَّنْ هُوَ فَإِنَّهُ أَوْصَلُ لِلْمَوَدَّةِ " . قَالَ أَبُو عِيسَى هَذَا حَدِيثٌ غَرِيبٌ لاَ نَعْرِفُهُ إِلاَّ مِنْ هَذَا الْوَجْهِ . وَلاَ نَعْرِفُ لِيَزِيدَ بْنِ نُعَامَةَ سَمَاعًا مِنَ النَّبِيِّ صلى الله عليه وسلم . وَيُرْوَى عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صلى الله عليه وسلم نَحْوُ هَذَا وَلاَ يَصِحُّ إِسْنَادُهُ .

Hannad and Qutaibah narrated to us: Hatim bin Isma'il narrated to us, from 'Imran bin Muslim Al-Qasir, from Sa'id bin Salman, from Yazid bin Nu'amah Ad-Dabbi, who said that the Messenger of Allah said: ‘When a man takes another as a brother, let him ask his name, his father's name, and where he is from; this will strengthen affection between them.’ Abu 'Isa said: This hadith is gharīb, and we know it only through this route. We do not know that Yazid bin Nu'amah heard from the Prophet. A similar report is narrated from Ibn 'Umar from the Prophet, but its chain is not authentic.
