Abu Sa'id Al-Ashajj narrated to us: Abu Khalid Al-Ahmar narrated to us, from Al-A'mash, from Salamah bin Kuhail and Muslim Al-Batin, from Sa'id bin Jubair and 'Ata', from Mujahid, from Ibn 'Abbas, who said: A woman came to the Prophet and said, ‘My sister died owing two consecutive months of fasting.’ He asked, ‘If your sister owed a debt, would you repay it?’ She replied, ‘Yes.’ He said, ‘The debt owed to Allah has an even greater right to be repaid.’ Reports on this topic are also narrated from Buraidah, Ibn 'Umar, and 'Aishah.
